INSIDE THE BOOK

About this book

Contacts and Constraints provides a comprehensive exploration of the systems that make real‑time physics simulation possible. Covering constraint solvers, collision response, numerical stability, contact generation, and the underlying mathematics, the book demystifies the inner workings of modern physics engines. It bridges theory and implementation, offering developers the tools and intuition needed to build reliable, predictable, and high‑performance physical interactions for games, simulations, and interactive applications.

Finally, an explanation that clicks

This is the one to get if you are serious about physics simulation.

I bought this on a whim after seeing it mentioned in a forum thread, and I am glad I did. The index and cross-references are surprisingly good, which matters for a book I will come back to. The writing is direct and does not waste space on filler, which I value in a technical book. A couple of chapters felt like they could have been merged, but that is a minor complaint. I have already recommended it to two colleagues and will recommend it to more.

Exactly what I was looking for

Worth every page. I have already recommended it to two colleagues.

I picked this up after getting stuck on a project and it turned out to be exactly the right book at the right time. The early chapters move quickly through material I already knew, but the later sections were genuinely new to me. I particularly liked the way the author builds up from simple cases before introducing the harder material. I particularly liked the way the author builds up from simple cases before introducing the harder material. An easy five stars from me. I look forward to whatever the author writes next.
