Finally, an explanation that clicks

Outstanding. I kept finding reasons to come back to it.

I was looking for something that would bridge the gap between tutorials and proper reference material, and this does that well. The balance between theory and practice is well judged; neither side dominates. There is a section near the end that ties several earlier ideas together in a way I had not seen before. One of those books that pays for itself within the first few chapters. Highly recommended.

A worthwhile read

Almost excellent. A second edition could easily push it to five stars.

I picked this up after getting stuck on a project and it turned out to be exactly the right book at the right time. The explanations are careful without being condescending, which is a difficult balance to strike. There is a section near the end that ties several earlier ideas together in a way I had not seen before. Recommended, with the caveat that it is not a gentle introduction.

A NOTE FOR YOUR NEXT CHAPTER

Pack a question for the journey.

Before starting an unfamiliar world, ask what draws you in: the place, the people, or the promise of discovery. Use that answer to compare descriptions. Keep a short trail of interesting names and places as you read.
